Just started playing the critically acclaimed "Amnesia - The Dark Descent."
It's from the makers of the also acclaimed "Penumbra Series".
According to most (nearly all) reviews, it's the scariest game ever made (Most of them also mentioned Penumbra as one of the scariest games, some using it as a reference mark of what true video game horror is).
It's Lovecraftian horror, not the horrible (meaning bad) western horror of this day and age (Want me to be more specific about "Western horror"? Slasher and Splatter/Gore genres. Ugh so bad).
Anyway I downloaded it from ThePirateBay (saw it on the Top 100 Games list) and it is really good and, of course, terrifying.
It's a Horror Survival, Adventure game, where you have to look for items and solve puzzles (all the while like this
), with nice physics also.
It's not just Lovecraftian horror, it's also inspired on a Lovecraft short story in particular (The Outsider) and even the engine this highly successful indie company uses in its games is named after him (HPL Engine).
So that's it readers, just wanted to let you know of the existence of a very high quality video game for the PC.
As always, links:
Amnesia's Wiki.Amnesia's GameSpot ReviewP.S.: It always makes me just a bit sad to think/talk about Lovecraft, for his untimely and painful death and his overall bad quality life, even with hid genius (For all of you who don't know, he was so poor he suffered from malnutrition, even though he eventually became one of the most important writers of all time).
