| Aye, it was in a church for my grandmother's 90th birthday. That was a year or so ago. The other picture is older. No worries about religious conversations or questions.

| O-O aqua is my swore enemy! a martial artist with a good high kick, a slow but powerful technique, get hit with on of those and your not fighting much longer....but it is slow, so chances of pulling one off mid fight is pretty low against an opponent who relies on speed like myself. | |

| That's not the only technique I know... ya know. But I won't describe the other abilities in my arsenal. That way if we ever do have a duel, I'll still have some techniques to throw at you in surprise. | |

| But really, anyone who pulls out a weapon in a fight that wasn't arranged to have weapons in todays day and age is a huge pussy. Like if you bring a knight to a fist fight or if you bring a gun to a knife fight, or you bring a nuke to a gun fight you're a pussy. Fight on even grounds please. Regardless of that though...mediator = win . | |

| Rofl, Juniors in hard-style Martial Arts learn how to disable close range guns.
Low Kick>High Kick
Knives/Guns/Etc are stupid.
If your bringing a weapon out your a tool, if your fighting someone who you have a massive advantage over your a tool.
And a major point if your using a Gun that has a blade on it and you weren't in WWII your a massive tool, and obviously don't understand why there was a blade on the guns.

| That reminds me of a story. In Belegarth (the medieval combat game I play) we use real armor, but foam-padded weapons. However, some non-combatants prefer to dress the part more seriously instead of actually fighting and will wear real weapons.
One such woman at an event had a full set of chain and plate mail on with a sword on her hip. She lived close to the park where they were fighting, so she decided to walk. She wore a cloak over her armor to #1 not look like a freak walking down the street, and #2 because it was a bit chilly in the fall. So, she is walking home afterwords, and it's kinda dark. She's a woman in her 20s and I guess looked like an easy mark. A mugger steps out of the shadows, points a knife at her, and demands all of her money. She of course simply drops her cloak and slowly draws her sword then replies "Try me".
True and awesome story. There are also a few dozen other similar stories of people who play Belegarth defending their homes from break-ins using their real weapons that they collect as a hobby. (It's extremely common to collect the real thing when your already trained to use it anyway.)

| Realistically, a low kick is more versatile than a high kick and more useful in a real fight.
Another thing I've never completely understood is why people don't try to attack other's midsection first. If you can land a good strike to someone's solar plexus, they won't want to fight much anymore. Not to mention that a successful strike there is usually less costly to land than a successful knockout strike.
Of course, one could argue that the midsection would be more protected/easier to protect, but I don't care to get into a theory of fighting discussion because each and every fight is completely different. There really isn't one "best" way to win a fight (excluding guns and dumb crap like that). I'm only talking about martial arts boxing sorts of fights.
Of course, once again, the above paragraph seems to assume that the fight will stay standing up. Unfortunately 80% of the fights don't stay standing up. But that adds much complexity to the conversation.

| I've found that a good leg sweep with a Bastard Sword will take most opponent's by surprise. Especially if they are unaccustomed to the reach of such a weapon.
Alternatively, a quick one-two-three strike of twin Longswords striking right shoulder, left leg, then left shoulder also breaks through all but the most skilled defenders. (Although it takes quite a bit of training to deliver it fast enough and a skilled player can attack back before your in range if they pay attention and/or disrupt your "combo".)

| Fighting style, speed, strength, statue and experience are the determining factors of a fight, what you do changes dependent on how good you opponent is in each. So yes attacking the mid section can be a good strategy against a slow opponent but if they are fast enough since you can move with the blow and to catch torso blows pretty easy, for fear of being thrown they may not be done often.
As for weapons, katana to short sword length single sided blade is my preferred weapon, small, light can be easily dual wielded and use easily for defense as well as offense.
Why i would use a gun blade (FF8 model) would be more for defense than offense. I prefer not to kill unless forced 2, and would use the gun to disable, but if forced 2 i can snipe.

| I haven't seen that movie. It's basically wack each other, and whatever gets hit is disabled. (Oversimplification, but you get the idea.) Losing 2 limbs or a hit to the body/crotch means death. Head shots are disallowed for safety reasons. (These weapons may be padded, but people still get concussions all the time. Torn ligaments and dislocated joints are also very common injuries in this game. The weapons have weight even if they are only foam around a core.) | |

| I googled some clips of it. Does that woman have a Motivational Poster in her office behind the guys? That's just awesome.
As far as the game, from what I saw in the clips the COMBAT (and the weapons) part of it looked similar to our game. Nothing else resembled it at all. That was an LARP. The people who play Belegarth are generally offended by people mistaking us for an LARP. (It happens alot.) There is a fundamental difference, being that they are nerds who are role playing. We on the other hand look at this more like a sport. Everything we do is focused on becoming the best fighters possible and having fun while doing it. (And of course staying safe.) Yes we have "realms", but they are simply a means of geographic distinction.
