I create this to keep an updated thread on what I'm hoping to accomplish soon in Spellbroken.

To-Do:

And yes, all 10 bars are actually there for all of them, they're just in black so people can't see.

Update:

  • Nearly finished with the Neutrals. The respawn system will be semi-complex, as to improve on the mechanics of the gameplay.
  • Began working on the Neutral Camp system.
  • Should soon have the overall neutral part of the gameplay completed, and will move on to the creation of the spell selection system.
  • Updated the main post to include the order in which I hope to complete the goals.
  • Added a few of the things that I finished that weren't even on my to-do list.

Update:

  • Neutrals are taking longer to add than I thought. Although the way I made them makes the creation of the neutrals quite simple, it's a more tedious process than I thought. There's for more neutral spawns than I had first imagined. They're only half done at the moment.
  • The Neutral Camp system looks like it might be one of the easier systems to implement, but there's a little twitch that I need to work out.
  • I still haven't even touched upon a spell selection system... and haven't even thought about how I'd make it. I'm caught up with the neutrals too much to bother with that right now, so I suppose that can come later.
  • I've been thinking about adding in an anti-maphack system...

I think this should be priorities:

-a few heroes (5 or less)
-a few spells for each (3-5? hm)
-bases, lanes, player-controlled armies
-terrain (basic, 1/3)

-neutral hostile creeps (regular team BLACK warcraft type creeps)
-basic quests/minigames

-advanced game systems

-creeps (that you are able to enlist and things)

-further terraining (2/3)
-improved spells, more spells
-improved heros, more heroes
-improved quests/minigames, more
-improved neutrals/creeps systems, more

-final terraining (3/3)

-balancing, etc...



i know its much more than that, (like bounty system, destructable system, etc) but that's what I would do.

Update:

  • Finished the neutral spawns, finally.
  • Neutrals should take less time than the neutrals did, due to the fact that there are less. However, they are slightly more complex.
  • I've been thinking about the spell selection system, and I'm pretty sure I have it pretty well-thought-out.
  • Still doing a bit of tweaking with the numbers to hopefully increase the playability, even at this stage of the game.


Kuro, I know that spells and heroes seem important right now, but they're not as important as getting the content of the map fully developed. The game will not be released until I'm certain that there will be a decently fun map to play. This will increase the amount of players who enjoy the map and will come back to later versions.

I'm working at a pretty decent pace, considering all that I've been told, and it feels as though I'm only taking small, microscopic steps each day towards completion. Unfortunately, this feeling will have to remain until I get the "OK" from some of the members of the Shadow Squad to fully release the map.

Update:

  • Due to being sick, I'm unable to focus enough to create the complex neutral creep system. Therefore, I've moved on to try and make the spell selection system, and creating more spells within itself.
  • Hopefully, I'll be able to have the spell selection system and some new spells ready before our test on Sunday.

Update:

  • Finished the spell selection system before the Neutral Camp system.
  • I'm currently implementing a decent amount of spells for testing purposes. 10 Different spells belonging to the same slot should be interesting enough for now.
  • Most of the spells currently seem somewhat balanced, along with the heroes.
  • Time isn't really on my side, and it's stressful to simply work on the map.
  • School wont be doing so well soon, so it'll probably impact the amount of time I can put into the map.

Update:

  • Been switching off between creating spells, modifying the missile system, and creating the neutral camp system.
  • Making slow and steady progress on the creation of spells.
  • Modifications to the missile system are nearly complete.
  • Neutral Camp system is confusing me and will likely take a while.
  • Less focused on the future and trying to solve the problems that are occuring right now instead.
  • Been doing mostly other things than modifying the map.
  • I have a new idea for the map that I will likely bring up, just as soon as I verify to myself that it's worth it. More on this soon, likely, but possibly not.
