I'm not quite done with MM&M. 7.14b leaves a bad taste in my mouth with the serious bugs and problems it has. We need a final version that actually works to leave behind as our legacy. Not some crapped out buggy version that looks like an alpha. If the map is ending, let it go out with polish.

My proposition: If Pythagoras will help with the coding and diaster will help with the grunt work, we can finish a reasonably decent 8.0 version.

I have a list of what needs to be done in this version in order of priority, then a list of what I wish could happen but might not be able to.

#1 All bugs from 7.14b need to be fixed. This is a job for Pythagoras, and I believe he already worked on it alot. Preferably, the animation for Lightning Strike could be finished as well.

#2 The changes to the Paladin/Knight/Archer suggested by Jay J. to make them able to be killed by lower level mages need to happen.

#3 Any already made M-spells should be added.

#4 Any glaring balance issues that have not been addressed should be. This includes things like the upgrade speed for creeps.

#5 Water needs at very least a buff.

As you can see, none of those things are that ridiculous and most of them don't even need a ton of work since they are half done already. Now onto the things that I would really like to see.

#1 The total overhaul to Water that has been discussed. This would require alot of coding from Pythagoras, but it would be a VERY nice addition.

#2 Any other M-spells that Pythagoras is willing to code and add.

#3 The new item system if finished and done properly could be added. But, I would suggest keeping some of the items from the old system since we won't be continuing to support the map and add unique items as planned. Simply use the old items for the unique items.

#4 The new requirements for M-spells that were discussed earlier.

#5 Add the boss quest if the boss is completed. It can be on it's own island with a teleporter from the mainland if necessary.

#6 Anything important that I forgot.


All of this could be done without a code reset besides the new item system, so that is another bonus. This is the first time I've been willing to open my own WorldEditor to make some of these things happen. If Pythagoras and/or diaster will help, I just want to make a final version that will remain playable for years to come.

Let's not leave behind a legacy of failure and bugs. Let's make the map shine with polish for all to see. Even if it doesn't continue, we can make one hell of a final goodbye.

What's MM&M? Joking. I agree, but I haven't seen Pyth on in a while. I think diaster has been working on the map though. He does have his own map as well though. Regardless, if it can be done - great. If not...can't force anything.

Well, there is no particular hurry. I just want to make a final finished version that works.

As a quick-fix, if Pythagoras could release a version 7.14c with the bugs fixed, even that would be a great improvement. I think he already did most of that anyway.

Honestly, the map is so different than I left it, and SO far off from where I was taking it, that I would become to depressed to pick it up from where the community left it.

Would you be willing to do a little work on it just to finish out a final version? I understand why you don't want to continue it, I just want to leave a working version behind that is as polished as possible.

shouldn't be too hard... :/

it doesnt need to be 8.00... just a 7.14a but with moar shinynuss and less bugs. (maybe some balancing, i dont think we totally need bosses.)

well most likely after this weekend I should have time to work on it, since from what pyth told me all that was left to do was items. Then again I might not have the time because this weekend my map is getting a really big release and I might work all weekend to get it bug-free.

The new item system isn't necessary. The more important things are the bugs and animation problems.

Lightning Strike needs an animation, and the aoe bug needs to be fixed primarily.

i think we should just trash the new item system.. after all this is the last release no reason to put items in the game that were planned to take several released just to add up.. might as well stick with what we got and focus on making it bug-free

I will help with the final im a rly good map making guy i make lots of maps when im board just i can do custom spell fx / multiplier dmg but i can do alot of other stuff that is nice n helpful

8.0 will only have a code reset if the overhaul to Water is decided to be too extreme or if a new item system is introduced.

Back on topic here, I don't think it would be that much work for diaster to do the 5 things that I listed in the first post of this thread and release the map. Most of the hard work is already done.

Please, just finish the dang thing.


Also, I think it should be open-sourced on TheHive preferably with a link to this forum and maybe a short description of some good improvements for the future.

Its not so much as its hard that its time consuming, which I'm sure you can ask anyone from my forum and they can tell you that's what I lack. The main reason I'm still working on fantasy life is because most updates are things I can do in an hour, (though lately they are getting much more complex) but even then updates span a few weeks cause of the small amount of free time I've to work on the map (w/o killing myself by over working)
