This thought just popped into my mind a minute ago. People couldn't even talk to themselves inside their head, before language (or just without ever learning one). So how did the thought process work? People just use mental imagery? I know I almost always put my thoughts together in my head using mostly only words. The human brain can naturally tell where the center of something is, or how to split something into even parts. How capable is someone of rational thought without being to easily separate and combine various thoughts? Can you do that if you know no language? Try to explain how something works without using a single word in your head. It's pretty difficult, right? Razz This is all just a weird series of thoughts for me, any one else mind sharing their opinions/thoughts?

Same way a deaf/mute person thinks, unless you count sign language as a language. If not, then the same was as a very developed baby can think. Just use symbolism (Which words really are anyway).

Also, there are recordings of human beings not being taught languages grouped together, and they come up with their own. Language seems to be an integral part of human nature.

Humans are actually instinctually wired to learn language.

Also, if you want to look up what Jay is talking about with language being symbols, just look up Saussure and at least one other guy whose name escapes me. He basically wrote the book on how signs function (not signs as in a "Stop sign" but signs as in words which indicate something - in other words, every word, evar).
