I was going to have it in my signature for a while, but the text is black, so you can't see what it says.

If "communists" (aka cheap bastards) didn't insist on reducing incentive for great things to be created for sale by stealing them, things like SecuROM wouldn't be used. They have indubitable statistical evidence to support their mistrust of consumers.

I know that, but it's kind of funny how the SecuRom thing works. When it's put in a game, it severely reduces the performance of the game, and sometimes even makes it unplayable, (I can't remember, but I had a game that wouldn't work on my computer after I had bought it because of SecuRom, it couldn't read that my disk was in my rom, so I never got to play it, Sad), so MORE people pirate it, and instead of legally buy it.

Look at TES: Oblivion. Didn't have ANY sort of protection whatsoever, and sold really well, (I believe). I think if it had some protection like SecuRom, a lot more people would've pirated it.

What I mean is that it's accomplishing the exact opposite of what it was made for. That's why the image is kind of funny. I think they're simply better off without a protection.

I never buy games with a lot of protection on it bacause if they treat customers like pirates they might as well act like pirates. I did buy Oblivion, Fallout 3 and and any other games that were worth playing and had minimal protection.

I kind of explained it with this post:

When people hear about games having it, it's usually their incentive to crack it, as it usually makes the game run like crap.

See Spore.

It was cracked 3 days before release, and once it was released it was buggy as hell. It took me returning the game and getting a new copy so that I could play, by which time, I had lost quite alot of intrest in the game.

It's just a Rep system for posts only. Helps the Map makers find good posts/suggestions as well as moderators find trollish/abusive posts when just skimming and not fully reading.

Yes, good idea. Abuse the rep system, and get yourself perma-banned.

For a brief time we had a rep system for PEOPLE. Then it turned into just for posts. What's up with that?

We, the moderators, decided that, if a people rep system existed, Dragonheart91's rep would fall at such a rapid pace that it would cause depression, and possibly an eating disorder. To preserve a sense of good will on the forums, we opted to remove that portion of the rep system.

Seriously though it was just removed because people who hate/love each other would abuse it and not rate rep on a post by post basis. I think it was pretty much all Jay.J's idea as well.

I don't like the idea of a Rep system. In a large forum people just trade reps and it becomes useless. In a smaller community people already know each other so there's no point. The only reason I wanted it was so it was easier for the map makers to see good suggestions if they were skimming there respective suggestion forums, and for moderators to see potential flamatory or bannable posts through skimming. It's mainly a tool for seeing potential good or bad posts. A tool, not a decider in what is and is not good/bad.

And it works perfectly well when somebody is negating and adding simply based on who they like, regardless of how small the community is, and even state it, Wink

Why would they bother if no one can see the count though....It's only useful if you're actually trying to help otherwise you waste your time and others times.

Well, no, you can't see the exact figure, but you can see the green/red bar, and easily estimate.

Also, the green/red bar is visible to normal users, as I just went into guest mode, and viewed it.

Well, I'd have to make an alternate account to see that...lol

Lagger says it is, so I'll take his word for it, ;p

Plus, Bal already said he was pushing the +/- for certain peoples' posts, so I would have to assume so, regardless.
