After you vote in the pool please give your reason. I think he doesn't produce any "good" music. Hes not a lyrical genius either. Most of his fan base consists of young teens who don't actually know what music is. I don't really see people in their forties listening to this garbage.

Anyways, if you look up any song by him, you can see he makes up words. Almost all of his lyrics are metaphors that aren't even related to a song in general. I mean, most of his songs are random strings of metaphors, that don't correlate with each other.

Another thing, he even calls himself "the best rapper the world". By his somehow extremely high ratings.
Even though Shinoda, Fort Minor, Jay.Z are so much more real. and better then he is. I wish people knew what music was these days. I think its the beats that make people like his music so much. C'mon, without them, he'd pretty much be nothing... I think Lil Wayne is going to end up like DMX. /end rant.

I created this poll because I got in an argument with a black girl who thinks hes "The Best Rapper Alive".

I put neutral because I've never heard his music. BTW, getting sucked into an argument over musical prowess/taste is incredibly pointless. Even more so than arguing over religion. Why not realize that there's nothing you can do? I suggest listening to your own music, but also listening with respect to what other people say and think without dismissing them or who they are based on something as comodified as music is in our culture. The only really good music is the stuff that speaks to you. The only thing better is the music that you make.

He has good and addicting beats, but not good music. He has good club/dance type music, but he has terrible, just listening for content, or for chilling or while doing something else. He has little to no message, and is way to commercialized.

I'd disagree with your statement, because of the some or certain circumstances. People CAN like whatever they want, but music can still be bad. Music that is good should have a variety of different elements: Harmony, Rhythm, Melody, etc. Good music should be executed well too. But since the his music is based more on vocals, its poetry. And I'm not basing this on most rap is poetry thing, if a piece of music is more focused on the vocals. Its usually poetry more then music. Since its poetry it should have some degree of emotional, or intellectual vales in it also. Then the last thing, a song shouldn't get old after the first time you hear it, that's how it is with most rap these days. You'll listen to it a few times, and you'll never want to hear it again. I see none of these things in his songs. I already explained what most of his songs are above. If you want go look up some of his random lyrics. Most of them are extremely pointless. Also, I don't think making up your own words is very intellectual.

I don't think arguing over music is pointless, and its defiantly NOT more pointless then an argument over religion. The basis of regions have yet to be proven, gods, and such. While music a form of art has been around forever, and there's a strong foundation which determines weather music is good or not.

Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, they all made incredibly well put together music. It doesn't appeal to me, but I know for a fact that its great music.

Oh, and Jay, he doesn't make his own beats. His producers do that for him.

The question is if he produces good music though. He produces it well if he can get someone to do it for him. A good leader delegates to people who can do it better.

Shakespeare disagrees.

Go look up words Lil Wayne has made up. You'll see exactly what I was insinuating. I wasn't talking about the late 1500's and early 1600's. I meant present day.

What words has he made up...? An example or a link would be nice. Even then, my point remains that his productions aren't bad. They're addicting (Not great beats, but addicting ones).

Well I can't really judge if you don't know. It's just sounds that represent something in the world....Can't really judge someone on that.

Also your poll doesn't REALLY make sense.

It makes PERFECT sense. They're all self explanatory, I thought... Middle is different, its when you literally in the middle, you might kind of like a song of his or a few, yet you don't like it at the same time. Your seriously on both sides, you cannot agree, disagree, or be neutral.
