No, it's definitely Jesus. I don't think un-educated people would know about Hitler at all. Also very young people would not know about him until they do so in school - which I'm guessing would be above grade 5. So that leaves every person that's under the age of 10 or so not knowing about him. However, people would know about Jesus at even as young as age 4. Even those who don't practice the religion will hear the phrase "Jesus Christ" passingly, so they'll at least know who he is passingly. Outside of that, developing and developed countries alike will know who he is whether they practice the religion or not. Name a country that doesn't KNOW who Jesus is.


This link shows the % of religions throughout the world. Around 53% of people say they are Christian or Muslim. Just in that alone, over 50% of people BELIEVE in Jesus, let alone have just heard of him. I can't think of a country that they wouldn't have heard of Jesus. All Muslim country and they believe in Jesus. Most developed countries have a good number of Christians that someone you know is Christian and you therefore know who Jesus is. Developing countries have a lot of missionary work from them.

Overall however in the broad sense of the past 20 years and the continuing twenty years I would say the name that really pops up consistently over time is Bill Gates.

However, I've heard on the news and on the net that many countries (even mexico and India) support Barack Obama. Also- a teacher at my school went to India. She was walking along through a town and some random guy is like "BARACK OBAMAAAA!!!". So I think he's pretty popular.

Name a country where people wouldn't know who Jesus is. There's going to be at least a few hundred, if not a few dozen Christians or Muslims lying around in most of the world. And the people who wouldn't know him would be like....remote mountain people, or hunter gatherer tribes, of which I think there are like 2 left in the world. So like maybe 10, 000 people wouldn't know who Jesus is.

Being widely known for either Horrid acts of horribleness or for 2000 years of young generational brainwashing should not be allowed, I move to remove Hitler And Jesus and Any other Religious Figure Head or High War Crime Suspect from this list.

Jesus isn't infamous though....Why should those restrictions be placed? If it's not Jesus I go back to Einstein...but still, why make restrictions? He asked a question and it was answered.

Everyone may not like him, but he's the most widely known person. Almost every country has some sort of church that talks about him, and most people hear it in passing. While he may not exactly be known, they still know of him.

Meaning, that while they may not know what he did, or may not believe in him, etc, etc, etc, they still have heard of him.

What about Muhammad? Or however the name is spelled... I.e. Muhammad the prophet from Islam. I imagine that he's pretty popular in the Islamic faith countries and there are quite a few of those. Beyond that, it may have to be Buddha... I know that he is technically an icon of sorts but there is some evidence that it was a real person at some point...

No. Even if you made the argument, and succeeded that Jesus was not a real person - he's still a person. Just fictional.

I never heard of Buddha until some girl in class told me she was a Buddhist. I was like, "What the heck is that?" This was also like three years ago. Strange I had never heard the term before.
