Just a Quote

I thought this quote could start up another good discussion thread. Feel free to discuss

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that's bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they're afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they're wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how you carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you're letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”

Real men don't have feelings, nor do they feel pain.

Umm....I think it's too general. Too broad, because not all people are like that at all, and I would say that it's a small minority that are like that. And even for people that ARE like that, you hide your pain as to not share it, to not put other people through it. In the same way that pain is like a radio, broadcasting it just shares it. Why share something you yourself don't like?

Or something like that. I don't have the book or exact quote in front of me but that's about it. It then goes on to explain how the soldiers would huddle around a fire after a days battle and share their pain to ease themselves of it while sharing their joy to spread it, etc.
