Well as per request I'm posting some suggestions to replace ice slide.
Frost Armor (no its not what you think) - Target unit loses 30% movement and attack speed. They lose .5*power health a second.

Black Ice - Freeze an area into a sheet of ice. All units entering the area slide 200 and are stunned for .5 seconds. All units in the area move at half movement speed and if hit, are stunned .5 seconds.

Or Blizzard? Either like the WC3 AoE blizzard or more of the Starfall from WC3 something like that.. OR you could make it all Pokemon style Blizzard and make it a wave

Glacier (3 levels) [E]

Effect: Creates multiple spikes of ice which move towards the target point.

Mana Cost: 100/130/160
Casting Type: Instant
Casting Range: 750
Cooldown: 21 seconds
Damage: .3/.6/.9*Power per spike
Stun: 1 second per spike
# of Spikes: 3/4/5
Skill Point Cost: 4/4/4

Total Skill Point Cost: 12


That's probably a bit too strong. Also, the starting position of the spikes would have to be decided. (They could start behind your hero similar to stampede, or in a circle around the target point 300ish range out, or a variety of other possible formations.) Although I'm not sure Ice needs another nuke ability.

Suggestion #2:
Glacier (3 levels) [E]

Effect: Creates a patch of ice which drains mana. The more mana it drains, the larger it grows.

Mana Cost: 100/130/160
Casting Type: Instant
Casting Range: 750
Cooldown: 21 seconds
Area of Effect: 100+ mana drained*5/10/15
Damage: .3/.6/.9*Power drained per second
Casting Time: 2 seconds
Skill Point Cost: 4/4/4

Total Skill Point Cost: 12

Although I'm not sure Ice needs another mana draining ability.

Suggestion #3:
Glacial Armor (3 levels) [E]

Effect: Fires an Ice Bolt in the direction of any incoming damage to the targeted unit and increases armor.

Mana Cost: 80/100/120
Casting Type: Instant
Casting Range: 750
Cooldown: 13 seconds
Armor: +6/9/12
Duration: 5/10/15 seconds (Max of 3/4/5 activations, and the armor bonus is reduced by 2 per activation.)
Skill Point Cost: 4/4/4

Total Skill Point Cost: 12

Defense with a chance to retaliate. As it retaliates pieces sheer off reducing the defense.

I say keep Ice Slide but cut the vulnerability time in half and lower the power -> speed conversion. It's a fun tool for moving your mage around.

Ice Field/Ice Floe
-creates an area of ice, which lasts for X seconds. Enemy units in this area take Y*power dmg per second and any projectiles moving through this area are sped up by a factor of Z.
-alternate possiblity to speeding up projectiles - slow units passing through.
-maybe also make the area increase as the duration continues, so it "spreads" over time.
-instead on simply dealing damage to units in the area, it could cast slightly reduced power Frost Novas either randomly, or in a pattern, around the Ice Field every W seconds.

Also I'd like to ask what synergies your skill has with the book, or if your defending ice slide why it should stay. (what synergies does it have?)

Does damage, slows the units, making aiming easier

Slows those caught in aoe, stacks with other cold auras. Makes orb even harder to escape. Supports team by allowing them to interrupt casts.

I think Glacial Armor is pretty good. It gives Ice a support skill while still following the theme of it being a damage element.

Things you can do with Slide:

-Escape from an enemy mage or group of mages closing in on you before they can lock you down.

-Move quickly from your base to the front lines.

-Move into range quickly so as to begin your combo from a closer distance(Freeze can work here too but usually wears off before you can get in range for Kiss of Ice).


Cons:

-Takes increased damage long after slide ends.

-Hard to maneuver at higher power levels.

-Tends to get stuck against trees and small rock protrusions.

don't you normally run into creeps and lose it? and doesn't it move to fast to use like that? ntm it is extremely hard to steer.

Running into creeps won't stop the sliding effect. It might stall you, but you'll still be sliding. At lvl 37 with roughly 60 power I have hardly any trouble at all steering it. My main problem is overshooting my target, which is why I want to see the power -> speed effect be tuned down, as I can shoot myself halfway down a lane when I merely want to go a third of the way.

see rhys told you everyone had to get their 2 cents =/ and ice doesn't need any more mana burn its annoying as is =/ they need a new type of "buff" spell imo

Jay, please comment on Glacial Armor. I think it is the best replacement I've seen yet. Ice could really use an ally buffing spell in my opinion.

nah glacial armor is just thunder storm with armor <.< which is bleh and seriously rhys this is why i wanted to wait till they left so we didn't have this happening =/

It seems like a decent spell, just doesn't really synergyze. Ice is about making sure you don't get attacked. Freeze, Freezing Orb, Mana Burn, Mana Absrob, Kiss - all ways to try to stop them from attacking you in the first place. You don't need to tank if they're not going to attack. I realize you're not actually tanking, just shooting out Bolts as you take incoming sources of damage. But ya....

My Ice Cream spell was serious to an extent though. I think a damage boosting spell would be cool, though I'm not sure after further thought it would be good on Ice.

I personally think the best Ice spells would be Lagger09s Ice field tweaked and modified or diasters black ice. Some form of AoE environment effecting type spell...
