| I know I said that I'd implement an Illusion Shot for the next version ( probably going to be called Beta 6.0 ) but during preliminary testing, I realized that it removes the need for tanking Metacians, and greatly reduces the effectiveness of healing Shots.
It basically allows a team of full Power Metacians with shear damage Shots to play effectively, because of the pull of enemies to the illusions.
In addition, tanking builds that use taking damage as dealing damage ( the Spicked Set or a Minotaur Set + Spiked Armor ) suddenly get screwed.
In short, I am removing the concept from the game, and unless someone has a flawless argument that shows me that illusions could somehow be balanced, I believe that I will keep illusions out of the game altogether.

| Low HP, high attack, high mana cost. Normal WC3-style attack based on your Metacian. Makes it nice and simple. You don't even have to add AI, the player doesn't need to micro it, the illusion dies fast, and the high mana cost will eventually make you run out considering that you wont be able to preserve your mana "forever"... | |

| ... I did that ...
The issue arises even when the illusion dies in one hit. It's the pull, the distraction that a 1.5 second illusion causes screws with tanks, and makes it far too easy to survive...

| Hmm... I suppose you're right... it could cause a serious balance issue.
I guess you shouldn't bother putting it in, then. =/

I could, but then the illusions would have no point at all, because it would be near impossible to record any damage they are doing, and I might as well include the damage the illusion would do in the Shot itself, where the damage dealt is meant to be recorded.

| I really don't see the point of an image anymore. Zync brings up good points, and the implementation would cause balance issues amongst other things. I guess my vote is to keep illusions out of the game. | |

| Yeah, Zync's initial post convinced me. They are either too good at tanking/pulling, too buggy with the damage system, or just plain too weird to control.
Although, does this also mean that any kind of summoning is out? True it would suffer from the same tanking/pulling thing as the Illusions, but if they were melee summons with low hp it might not be so bad. Also, as long as the shots explode on the first target they aren't going to pull too much.

Yes and No. You're probably not going to see a Water Elemental Shot or ability for that matter. However, if you look at the "Locust Shot" ( I argue the best Shot in the game, while no one has seemed to notice it ) it is a summon, just not in the way you'd normally think of them.

| I realize that Locust Shot is a summon, and that all summons could potentially be like that if necessary. Water Elemental Shot sounds cool, and I hope it's mostly based on Essence.
Locust Shot is good btw, it just utterly fails against waves compared to aoe shots. It's good on more balanced builds or build that use alot of Stamina though. (Although Blood Shot is often better on a pure Stamina build.) But, if anyone made a hybrid build of some sort Locust Shot would be good.

| Maximum damage from a Locust shot is 100 per hit. Very useless considering a missile shot can deal 600ish AoE damage and 900+ target damage with a tribarrel. | |

| I don't think you understand SinisteRing. That's 100 per TICK. The Locusts don't just go away. They sit there and continue to attack somewhere between 1 and 3 times per second. (Not sure.) Dealing that damage. Also, if they kill the target they move on to a new target and continue. They can also stack up. Locusts are VERY powerful against bosses and things. | |

| Whatever damage the Locust Shot deals upon contact, the Summons will attack for that much. Up to three summons, and 3 attackes per summon. In other words, if the Locust Shot dealt 100 damage on contact, it will deal 1000 damage in total in a "controlled" AoE fashion since they move from one target to the next. In addition, the Shot works no matter the build you take. It's very good. | |
