I feel that Lightning in addition to being the burst damage element should also be the sniping element. So, I would like to propose a range buff to Lightning Strike and a change in general to some of the spells. (This could greatly influence the Thunderbolt remake.)

Lightning Strike is currently the weakest [Q] spell. Firebolt has a stun, Icebolt has a slow, etc etc. Lightning Strike is instant as it's bonus. Personally, I don't think that's enough. So, I think it should also have more range. I was thinking about 1000-1200. Also remember, it will be harder to aim from that longer range.

In addition, I would like to propose some piece of Lightning gear increasing the range by an additional 100-200.

Finally, Thunderbolt until it is remade should at least have it's damage increased somewhat and it's range increased alot. Even still, no one uses it.

Casting Range is 850
Distance a Bolt will Travel is 1250, or 400 units beyond what you target.

I am going to Nerf the Casting Range in response to the Distance Added to the overall effect. What this will cause is a farther distance spell that will require you to target closer to your casting point and farther from your casting target which will reduce the scope at which you have to target with making it more difficult the farther out you are attempting to hit.

I believe that Lightning Strike should be the farthest reaching spell and the highest damage spell but also in respect to that the harder it should be for the player to appropriately aim.

na...i think it being instant cast is fine....lightning was suppose to be the sniper of the game remember? and I mean who can really dodge lightning...I agree with forcing them to have a clear shot to hit you, but so long as you move w/ creeps you don't really have a lot to fear from the spell, and if you stray 2 far, you kinda deserve to get zapped for not positioning your self properly in a game this is all about positioning.

300-400 seems like a very valid range increase. I support this idea.

Also, since the casting range will still be short but the bolt will go farther, we REALLY need the animation now to show people how far it actually went. I don't care if it kinda floats there and looks a bit stupid, I still think it's a hell of alot better. (Precision Strike and Thunderstorm can keep the old animation, as it sorta makes sense for those spells.)

I personally think there wasn't much wrong with the old targeted Lightning strike. But many people did, so I digress.

I'd like to see a Thunderbolt remake first, then see how it affects lightning until then it can stay - or if you're going for the quick fix, 600 sounds fine with the new way it will work as Rhys described.

It's just a flat out minor buff. I don't think it will interfere with Thunderbolt remake too much and shouldn't make the element too strong IMO. I just felt that Lightning Strike was inferior to the other [Q] spells now. (Previously when it was targeted it was ok, but it made the rest of the element too point-and-click with no skill involved and made it too strong IMO. Now you can dodge it and stuff, but it's getting an alternate functionality in sniping.)

Does it still have an increased mana cost? I made a mini-essay a while back, about how a Stun for (3?) seconds = (10?) seconds slow =/= targeted + 30 mana which is what Lightning was back then, not only that but it didn't even combo properly with the others and didn't synergyze with the element in general. Lightning in general is weak, it's [Q] spell has no effect, and "Sniping" does not = Stun or Slow either, especially an aimed one that is so easily countered.

My point is that it's not really enough for Lightning, but it might be fine for a quick-fix or depending on Thunderbolt, fine.
